One Common Language

One Common Language For All

The advantages would be:
- Communication between others would be very easy as everyone would understand the language.
- Communication would be faster as there would be no need to translate things from different cultures and languages.
- It would benefit globalization and allow the world to be in more unity. For instance, you could travel to a whole new place and still be able to communicate with others and stay there peacefully as there will be no language barriers.
- Equal opportunities could be given to everyone as there will be no discrimination based on a person's ability to speak languages.
- People would start to understand each other better and there will be less interpretations/assumptions in things like religion or traditions.

The disadvantages would be:
- There would be too many words in order to explain the important things in each region's culture
- The language would become too complex, as more and more rules would be added to it (for example, masculine and feminine words).
- The words would start to take different meanings around the world, and people would be unsure over the proper meaning. For instance, the word 'cool' could be used to describe that something is cold, but it could also be used to describe something fun.
- Newer dialects of the same language would originate (Such as the African American Vernacular English), and after a while people would start changing the language and it wouldn't be universal anymore.
- There won't be a cultural shock anymore and you won't learn new things from every culture, it would be the same thing everywhere.
- It can make everyone's identity and personality very similar, which is something not everyone likes. You can lose many parts of your heritage, and that threatens many people's identity and cause confusion.

The implications would be:
- By choosing only one common language, many important things from each country's language, culture and heritage can be lost.
- Language would loose a lot of its beauty and history. In each language, words can convey multiple layers of meaning, and so if it was only one language, a lot of these hidden meanings would be lost and convenient, straight-forward communication will be more emphasized on.
- Takes away the uniqueness and individuality of each culture.
